A photograph of a copy machine is given to an Asian painter who specializes in realistic painted reproductions with the simple instruction to copy the copy machine displayed on it. After creating a painted reproduction another painter is then given the painting, again with the instruction to copy the copy machine. This process is repeated 5 times resulting in a noticeable change of quality and perfection. The title Copy Machines can therefore be read as the subject of painting or the producers of the paintings.
